Remaining in the family home rather than moving to a single-story unit as they age is a desire that many homeowners share. The addition to this Canonsburg home was designed so the homeowners could stay in their home regardless of any physical limitations in the future.

An existing window opening became the entrance to a spacious first floor master suite, complete with full bathroom, walk-in closet, and laundry area. The addition blends with the current style and structure of the home, allowing for comfortable, convenient living without climbing the stairs. On the exterior, features such as the front gable were replicated to make the addition look like it had always been there.

This project was built by Prime 1 Builders and won a Housing Excellence Award from the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh.
